The main aim of the study is to investigate pupilsīself concept and their achievment in mathematics and the relationship between self concept and achievment.Of special interest is also to study what kind of differences there are in the results between girls and boys, between pupils of different ages and between Swedish-speaking and Finnish-speaking schools.In the follow-up study the development of these relationships will be investigated.The focus of the first follow-up will be on studying and analysing the results of the both investigations - pupils with poor achievment in mathematics and/or poor result in the self concept test.In the second follow-up study the development will be investigated in relation to the remedial teaching received.
